    LAST OF THE FEW

In 2 years time it will be the 75th anniversary of the start of the greatest battle ever faced by the Free World; it was called Operation Overlord and started on 'D-Day', which was the 6th of June in 1944. Sadly just 0.3% of D-Day veterans are still alive or healthy enough to be able to venture back to annual celebrations held in northern France and Holland.

D-Day changed the world for good, thankfully. Had it NOT been successful however, you would not have anything like the privileged existence you do right at this moment. You would be living in an oppressive, murderous and fascist society, with little personal freedom & no chance of change. ARE YOU EVEN AWARE OF WHAT YOU WERE GIFTED THAT DAY?

    OUR MISSIONS

As most of those 'everyday heroes' are no longer with us, we have – with the last of the few that do remain – an opportunity to journey back to the locations of their greatest & darkest moments. And that is what we are trying to do; to listen to their stories, to learn from their experiences and to remember forever exactly what their sacrifices mean to us. WE ARE PART OF GENERATION LUCKY BUT ARE WE IN DANGER OF FORGETTING THAT...

Our first film is now several months into production. That is, we have started filming David's story, who is a 93 yo, double amputee, D-Day veteran who lived on Juno beach for 3 months, then endured one of the worst battles of the war (The Battle of the Bulge). Firm plans are in place to return to drive him on the beach, with a modified version of the same truck, for a once in a lifetime experience. BUT WE DO NEED FURTHER FUNDING TO GET THIS ALL ACCOMPLISHED FOR HIM.

This project was kick-started by 2 individuals with a shared vision; one of them was an historian who as a volunteer at IWM North donates his time to helping veterans interact with visitors; another is a professional broadcaster who has a desire to produce worthy film & TV, even if no-one will pay upfront for it to be made! The project is being kept afloat by donations, volunteers & contributors of many different kinds. WOULD YOU CONSIDER DONATING SOMETHING TOO?

    FUNDING

This whole project has been established through hard work; generous gifts of time & money; sales of David's self-published book about his life & the war; as well as fund-raising events by various parties who all share the same vision as us... getting David back on that beach!! But we are still thousands of pounds short to make it a reality. PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING DIRECTLY OR PURCHASING HIS BOOK TO HELP US.
